Channel Islands National Park to Receive Funding
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Allots $372,000 for Smart Energy Projects
The Channel Islands National Park, which includes Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara islands and the surrounding ocean, will be receiving $372,000 in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The money will reportedly be put toward smart energy projects and investments including the installation of solar panels and more energy-efficient windows at the park’s Visitors Center.
According to Lois Capps representative Randolph Harrison, this project was a priority among many of the shovel-ready endeavors that required funding from the ARRA. “This is good news for Channel Islands and taxpayers alike,” said Capps in a written statement. “This funding will continue to encourage job creation in the critically important alternative energy and energy-efficiency fields. In addition, by reducing the Park’s energy costs, these investments will pay benefits for years to come.”
