Are you a pro at the English language with a plethora of exotic words bouncing around your head? Now you have a chance to prove it. Pit your expertise against other wordies at the S.B. Public Library’s Scrabble challenge, taking place Sunday, May 17, 2-4 p.m., at the Montecito branch. Participants can snack on desserts and win door prizes while attempting to produce high-scoring words on the board. Individuals and teams-such as parent/child or adult learner/tutor-are welcome. A fundraiser for the library’s Adult and Family Literacy programs, the wordfest is just a warm-up for big one in the Fall-the fourth annual Scrabble Challenge for Literacy.
