No Injuries in Drive-by
Police Say Specific House Targeted By Shooter
Santa Barbara police are investigating an apparent drive-by shooting on the Westside late Friday night. No one was injured in the shooting, though it appears a particular house on the block was specifically targeted.
Police responded to a shots fired call in the 800 block of West Sola Street at 11:25 p.m. Friday, July 24. Police talked to residents in the area-between Chino and Gillespie Streets-and at least one person told him they saw a vehicle with an arm sticking out the driver’s window.
There was evidence-several gunshot impacts-that lead police to believe one specific home was targeted, but there is no evidence any bullets actually made it through any windows or walls of the home. No one was injured in the shooting. Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte said police still don’t know what the motive for the shooting was.
Police do have an idea of how many shots were fired from what they believe to be a handgun, but weren’t releasing a number. Police also do have a description of a vehicle but didn’t release that information either.
