Police Arrest Man for DUI, Carrying Loaded Gun in Vehicle
Santa Barbara police arrested a man Thursday evening for an alleged incident of road rage incident in which a driver had displayed a handgun and fired several shots into the air.
According to police, William Anthony, 58, got upset because someone was in a vehicle honking at him just before 7 p.m. Words and gestures were exchanged near Highway 101 at Milpas Street, explained police spokesperson Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte. Anthony allegedly followed the vehicle to Alisos and Cacique streets and fired shots into the air to scare the occupants of the other vehicle. He then left the area, but was followed by someone who had called police and was in cell phone contact with them. Police caught up to Anthony at Highway 101 approaching the Sheffield exit in Montecito.
Officers allegedly found a loaded weapon and an open alcohol container in Anthony’s purple Corvette. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for discharging a firearm from a vehicle, reckless discharge of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle, and DUI.
