Several pieces of human bones were found in the area of the Jesusita Trail just north of the San Roque Reservoir in September, and Santa Barbara Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in figuring out who the person was.

The bones, discovered on September 6 by a hiker, appear to be that of a male, age 20 to 45, with a height ranging from 5-foot-6 to 6-foot-3, according to Sheriff spokesman Drew Sugars, though the bones haven’t been matched to any missing person.

A pair of glasses and a necklace with a pendant were also found in the vicinity of the bones, which Sugars said had been in the area since several months prior to the start of the Jesusita Fire.
