Santa Barbara County’s largest employee union, SEIU Local 620, has agreed to concessions for this upcoming year that will save the county nearly $8.5 million. That agreement, combined with agreements from two other unions, will save a total of $9.64 million during the current and upcoming fiscal years. The Service Employees International Union, which represents roughly 1,983 county employees, along with members of the Engineers and Technicians Association, agreed to defer a 2.5-percent wage increase through next June, eliminate a 1.5-percent equity adjustment, and take out a $20 per pay period benefit allowance. In return, members will receive 40 hours of paid time off between the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
