While public safety and assistance departments will remain open, most Santa Barbara County departments will be closed from December 24 through January 2.

The closures come as a result of an effort to save the county workforce from layoffs, and will save the county $9.6 million.

Remaining open will be the Sheriff’s and fire departments, public health, social services, mental health, and public works. Some other administrative offices will have limited staffing to provide essential services.
