Community Forum with Santa Barbara City Council Applicants December 5

A vacancy has been left on the Santa Barbara City Council to replace Das Williams and we are inviting the community to come and hear from the applicants. This forum will be co-hosted by FamiliesACT!, The Santa Barbara Homeless Blog and Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee for the community. The general public is invited to come and learn more about the candidates who seek to be the swing vote on important issues to come such as Plan Santa Barbara- General Plan and next year’s budget.

The forum will be held on Sunday December 5 from 2 to 4 pm at the Faulkner Gallery at 40 E. Anapamu St. in downtown Santa Barbara. It will be facilitated by Isabelle Walker, Suzanne Riordan and Olivia Uribe.

Isabelle Walker is a journalist and the editor of the Santa Barbara Homeless Blog, as wells as a contributor to the Santa Barbara Independent. Suzanne Riordan is the executive Director for FamiliesACT!. Olivia Uribe is a boardmember of the Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee, and a community activist.

At the time of this release, an effort is being made to contact all applicants and therefore confirmation of which applicants will be present is not yet available. Although the public will not be voting on the appointment, public comment at council chambers is part of the process on Dec 7th regarding this item. This forum is the best opportunity to learn about the applicants and for them to learn more about what matters to the community.

The media and the public are invited to join us at the Faulkner Gallery, 40 E.Anapamu St. on Sunday December 5 at 2pm. Come to learn about the applicants to the vacant city council seat who will have a great responsibility to this community should they be appointed.
