In an effort to conserve resources and reduce pollution, four businesses pledged to comply with environmentally responsible regulations on January 6. The Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County (GBP), representatives said in a press release, granted certifications to the Solvang Senior Center, a service dedicated to the health and independence of community seniors; Solvang Gardens, a country boutique inn; Medbridge Development, a facility that specializes in state-of-the-art health care; and MarBorg, a family-owned garbage collection and recycling management company.

In just two years, the GBP has certified 20 businesses as models of sustainability that not only satisfy environmental laws but exceed those requirements, whether it is in waste reduction, recycling, or environmentally preferable purchasing. The GBP, said representatives, unites green businesses committed to benefiting not only their own efficiency but their communities’ surroundings.
