Driver in Carachure Murder Sentenced to Time Served
Carlos Diaz, who testified against a group of Eastsiders he drove in July 2007 to the Westside, where they stabbed and murdered 16-year-old Lorenzo Carachure, was sentenced on 4/11 to time served for his involvement in the incident. Diaz struck an agreement with prosecutor Hans Almgren, exchanging his testimony against Ruben Mize, Bryan Medinilla, Raul Diaz and Ricardo Nava for a deal in which he pleaded guilty to accessory to murder with a gang enhancement. He served just under four years in County Jail.
