Direct Relief International in partnership with local students is offering you a solution for that loose change that clatters to the floor from your pockets as you get dressed in the morning. Youth 4 Direct Relief’s “Change. A Life. 100 Day Campaign” is currently raising funds for maternal and child health in developing countries.

Women and children are often the most disproportionately affected by poor or lacking health services in a community, yet they are central to the overall health of the community. In partnership with DRI’s Maternal and Child Health program, local students from all levels of Santa Barbara area schools are committing to donating 25 cents per day for 100 days. This amount ensures the most basic necessities for one mother to have a safe and healthy delivery, increasing the chances for both mother and baby to survive.

The Campaign kicked off on September 8 and runs for 100 days until December 16. Change boxes and jars will be distributed to local schools, youth organizations, and churches. Although the start date for the campaign has passed it is not too late to participate. Schools may join the campaign on a rolling basis throughout the fall. Prospective participants can find more information by emailing Youth4forDirectRelief@gmail.com. For more information regarding the campaign, contact Gregory Cusack, Campaign Chair and a senior at Cate School: 805-698-6998 or gregorycusack@gmail.com.
