Genesis Plus, a new laser treatment for fungal nails without downtime, side effects, or pain is now available through Dr. Fillerup at the Foot and Ankle Center of the Central Coast in Santa Maria.

Dr. Fillerup, a Podiatric Surgeon states, “Fungal infection of the toenails is a very common and challenging condition. Topical medications are often ineffective and require prolonged use. Oral medications are more effective, but potentially harmful to the liver. There are concerns with interactions with other medications, high cost, and they require blood tests to monitor the liver function.”

The Genesis Plus laser procedure is ideal for almost any patient suffering from fungal nails. This is the cutting edge of laser technology and is specifically designed and calibrated for clearing fungal nails. The treatment is non-invasive, non-toxic, and pain free. For optimal results, two to three 20 minute treatments spaced three months apart are performed at Dr. Fillerup’s office in Santa Maria. Patients begin to see clearing of the nails as early as a few weeks after treatment and complete results are seen after 9-12 months as a new nail grows in.

How it works:

+During the 20 minute procedure, laser pulses are delivered to the nail and nail bed.

+The laser heats the deep layers of the nail and the nail bed.

+There is minimal discomfort, no adverse effects, and no discoloration or loss of nail after the procedure.

+Clear nails will begin to grow after the first treatment and to ensure the fungus is killed a 2nd and 3rd treatment will be performed three and six months later.

+After care instructions will reduce the risk of re-occurrence.

The Cutera Genesis Plus laser is a powerful ND:YAG laser. Early clinical studies are showing success rates from 70-88% for treating fungal nails. Oral medications are only 50-70% successful and topical anti-fungal lacquers are as low as 10-12% successful.

Dr. Fillerup states, “This revolutionary treatment provides a safe and effective solution for the millions affected by this embarrassing and annoying condition.”
