The Benefit Concert will be held Saturday, October 29th, at the 500 seat Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on the campus of California State University, Northridge. Tickets will be sold during a membership Pledge Drive from October 14th through October 23rd.

88.5 FM KCSN Program Director Sky Daniels exclaimed, “Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are not only one of the greatest bands of all time, they are true believers in the power of rock n’ roll. For them to selflessly want to perform this show speaks volumes for their love of music, and their willingness to support KCSN’s effort to build a radio station devoted to breaking new artists, supporting local artists, and respecting great legacy artists.”

Tom Petty says, “We’re really loooking forward to it. We are happy to support publc radio given the challeges it faces today.”

Proceeds from the Pledge Drive will be used to support growth initiatives for KCSN, including signal improvements and community outreach. A portion of proceeds will also go to benefit National Public Radio’s Music Initiative. KCSN launched its “Smart Rock” format on July 15th, 2011.

Tickets to see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will be available through supporting pledges to KCSN. The station will offer the chance to pledge for tickets at random times throughout the Pledge Drive, beginning on Saturday October 15th. Orchestra Pit tickets will be made available to KCSN members only via the station’s Pledge Auction taking place between October 14 and October 23 at auctions.kcsn.org.The auctions will also include one-of-a-kind autographed memorabilia from U2, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Mumford & Sons, Mick Jagger, and more. Joining Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on this bill will be breakout new artist, Lissie. Lissie’s debut album Catching A Tiger was named iTunes UK’s “Album Of The Year” in 2010, and she has garnered significant press attention from outlets including Billboard, Esquire, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, SPIN, and USA Today.
