Becky Snyder, President of ABC-CLIO, Joins Marymount Board
With 30 years of experience in the education and library market, Becky has led ABC-CLIO’s growth as a premier publisher of digital and print products in the United States and internationally.
Under Ms. Snyder’s leadership, ABC-CLIO has been widely recognized as a leading developer of award-winning digital products that improve teaching, learning, and scholarship. ABC-CLIO’s databases are the recipients of more than 50 awards, including the American Library Association’s prestigious Dartmouth Medal and the SIIA CODiE Award.Today ABC-CLIO publishes more 18,000+ print, e-book, and database titles in history, health, business, and professional development fore ducators and librarians.
Becky has served on the Board of Directors for the Software & Information Industry Association, the Association of Education Publishers, and National History Day. She has been selected by the Pacific Coast Pacific Times as a Top 50 Women in Business. Prior to ABC-CLIO, Ms. Snyder conducted research on technology effectiveness and was a classroom teacher. She holds a master’s degree in instructional design from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Becky resides in Santa Barbara with her husband, Peter. Their two grown children, who both attended Marymount of Santa Barbara from Kindergarten through 8th grade, are Grady ’98 and Kendall ‘00. Becky credits Marymount for setting her children on a path that led them to achieve. Her son Grady went on toExeter Academy from Marymount and then MIT and Dartmouth for his MBA. While at MIT, Grady competed in the Division III NCAA swimming championships and won All American. Similarly, her daughter, Kendall, also went to Exeter and then onto Claremont McKenna College and attends George Washington Medical School. Kendall was a three time academic All American in water polo and participated in the NCAA championships.
Marymount is an independent coeducational school serving Junior Kindergarten through 8th grade. The school’s state-of-the-art facilty is securely nestled on a picturesque 10-acre campus on the Santa Barbara Riviera. For nearly 75 years, Marymount has prepared young people for the academic challenges of high school and college, while laying the foundation for life-long character, achievement, and love of learning.
