Spare Shoes in the Closet?

Trade Gently-Used Shoes for a Great Cup of Coffee

Trudi Carey of The Carey Group, Inc. is providing locals with the opportunity to make sure that nobody goes without such a basic necessity as a pair of shoes.

Twin cups Drive-Up Coffee & Frozen Yogurt and Ablitt’s Fine Cleaners are collecting clean, gently used shoes as part of the Santa Barbara shoe drive project together with Patterson Self-Storage, Santa Barbara Wine Storage and The Carey Group, Inc. Men’s work boots and tennis shoes are in need the most. The Santa Barbara shoe drive is dedicated to distributing reusable shoes, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The program is an easy way for individuals and families to pass along shoes that are no longer needed.

Twin cups and Ablitt’s have made donating shoes simple. Donors are invited to bring their clean, gently used shoes to Twin cups Drive-Up at 5329 Calle Real (in front of Patterson Self-Storage) from 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekends or to Ablitt’s Fine Cleaners at 14 W. Gutierrez Street from 8 am to 7 pm weekdays and 8 am – 5 pm Saturdays now through March 31, 2012. Twin cups and Ablitt’s will take care of the rest. All donated shoes will delivered by Ablitt’s to Transition House, Santa Barbara Crisis Center, Casa Esperanza and The Santa Barbara Rescue Mission for distribution to local people in need.

As a thank you, donors will receive from The Carey Group, Inc. and Patterson Self-Storage a $5.00 gift card to Twin cups to be used toward a specialty coffee, frozen yogurt or pastry.
