Rick Santorum was recently lambasted for using the other S-word, “Satan.” Some of your readers seem to have a misunderstanding about who and what “Satan” really is, and I wanted to clear things up for them. Satan is not some wicked dude who sits with his pitchfork in some other fiery dimension; in actuality, Satan is here in our midst.

Satan was at work in Luis, the 13-year-old boy who murdered a 15-year-old boy in front of Border’s (for the simple fact that Luis’s victim lived on the other side of State street).

Satan was also at work in George Bush, who decided that the best way to respond to 9/11 was by sending lots of bombs and weapons to the other side of the world.

So you see, Satan has been working hard, from the highest places to the lowest places in America.

When Christians speak of “evil” and “Satan,” what they are really referring to is simply unhealthiness and death. (That is why we say “live” is evil spelled backwards.)

With over 50% of Americans being born out of wedlock, and the fact that a great many of those children are born into a lifetime of poverty, is it really so ludicrous for someone to suggest that abstinence might be a better option for high schoolers?

Nope, keep the condoms coming! America is Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Iranians would like to blow us up. Good times!!!
