El Capitan Canyon Rounds Out its Comfort Camping Options with New Adventure Yurts
Couples and Multigenerational Families Can Enjoy Camping in All Seasons for All Reasons
These spacious, modern Adventure Yurts join the Canyon’s offering of contemporary rustic canvas safari tents and cedar cabins and its sister property Ocean Mesa’s RV and tent camping sites. This wide variety of accommodation styles provides guests a full range of comfort camping options available in one place – camping in all seasons and for all reasons. Having these choices can be especially convenient for couples or multigenerational families with different preferences when vacationing together.
“Guests have long seen our meeting yurts and asked about sleeping in a yurt when they visit El Capitan Canyon,” said General Manager Terri Bowman. “This input inspired us to add three new Adventure Yurts to the range of camping styles we already offer our guests, providing a fun new option between the sturdiness of a cabin and the natural coziness of a safari tent.”
The Adventure Yurts are centrally located in the Canyon and surrounded by sloping foothills and spectacular landscaping. Each yurt is 20 feet in diameter and constructed from a circular, wooden lattice frame, covered with canvas and topped by a skylight. The new yurts are decorated in the Canyon’s signature style: a queen bed, a twin-sized daybed with a second twin trundle bed, linens, night stands, two tables, two chairs, wicker under-bed storage baskets, small fridge, electric lighting and a space heater. There is also a private fire pit and picnic table outside each yurt, and bathhouses are nearby.
Set in a scenic garden area near the pool, lawn and playground, the yurts offer a convenient hub for families to explore all the Canyon offers. Staying in a yurt, guests will relish their overnight in nature without forgoing their usual comforts. Rates for the yurts are $175 plus tax per night in the quiet season and $205 in the prime summer season.
El Capitan Canyon’s other comfort camping options include canvas safari tents and cedar cabins dotting the canyon between sycamore trees. Cabins and tents are heated and furnished with Western décor, soft beds, down-style duvets, linens and plush towels. Each one also has a front deck with two chairs, a fire pit and a picnic table. Cabins have full bathrooms and kitchenettes, and many feature large soaking tubs and gas fireplaces. Safari tents have electric lighting, screened windows and doors with zip-down flaps, and convenient, modern bathroom and shower facilities are located nearby.
El Capitan Canyon provides opportunities for guests looking for either an active or relaxing getaway on the Central California Coast. On-site activities include exploring the Canyon on complimentary bikes, hiking 15 miles of trails in the surrounding foothills, or strolling down to the beach for tidepooling. Guests who prefer a slower pace may schedule a massage in the Creekside Canyon Spa or simply sit back to savor a glass of wine from the Canyon Market Wine Cellar’s exclusive selection. Canyon staff can suggest day trips such as horseback riding, golfing, ocean kayaking, monarch butterfly park tours, whale watching and tours of downtown Santa Barbara. The Canyon’s amenities include a ropes course, a solar-heated swimming pool, a goat and llama herd, an organic garden, and the Canyon Market & Deli, which serves meals and sells groceries, supplies and unique gifts.
