Sports Highlights: June 2-12
Four-minute milers, joggers, families and dogs will line up at State and Pedregosa on Sunday morning, June 3, for the 13th Platinum Performance State Street Mile. Each category will have its own race, a gentle downhill to the finish line at De La Guerra. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at the starting line. The first race will go off at 8.
The Santa Barbara Foresters continue their season-opening baseball series against the San Diego Waves at UCSB’s Caesar Uyesaka Stadium with games Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. The Waves shut out the Foresters on Friday, 4-0.

SEMANA NAUTICA 2012
June 23-July 14 – Semana Nautica (“marine week”) began in the 1930s when Santa Barbara residents organized sporting activities with visiting Navy seamen. It evolved into an annual sports festival open to the public around the July 4 holiday. There is no charge for spectators at any event, but the festival’s primary objective is to encourage participation. Events in the 75th Semana Nautica include age-group and masters swimming, ocean swims, flying disc competitions, a 15-kilometer run, beach volleyball, beach soccer, softball, tennis, and a cardboard kayak race.
