Cottage Hospital Awards 3 Scholarships Totaling $9,000
Three candidates were selected for 2012 and all received $3,000 scholarships (from left to right): Tyler Dalo graduated this month from Santa Ynez Valley High School and has been accepted at San Diego State University where he will pursue his Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Physical Therapy; Taylor Eldevik graduated this month from Santa Ynez Valley High School and will be attending University of California-Santa Barbara majoring in Pre-med to become a doctor specializing in Autism; and Julio Saucedo, currently an SYVCH emergency room technician and employee for 12 years, will be pursuing his long-time goal to be a certified Radiology Technician studying at Santa Barbara City College. The SYVCH Auxiliary Scholarship selection committee consists of Jean Pack, Kathy Erb and Pat Foxen. Wende Cappetta, Vice President of SYVCH said, “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication our Hospital Auxiliary does not only for the hospital but also for the community at large. They raise every single cent for these scholarships through their incredible volunteer efforts.”
Founded in 1962, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Auxiliary is an all-volunteer organization providing more than 18,000 service hours annually to the facility. The auxiliary operates the “New to You” Shop at 1689 Oak Street in Solvang, along with sponsoring and participating in numerous fundraising events supporting the hospital’s mission.
