Goleta Keeps Contracting with Sheriff’s Department
Law Enforcement Services Extended Through June 2017
An agreement has been reached with the Sheriff’s Department and the City of Goleta to extend its law enforcement services through June 2017. The department has provided police protection since Goleta became a city in 2002, and the most recent five-year contract expired in June.
The contract for the current fiscal year — which does not factor in overtime or operational costs for motorcycle units —is for nearly $7.1 million. Officials will take a look at the cost of the contract each year to recalculate how much the city will pay in exchange for the negotiated services, and the contract also leaves open the opportunity for service level changes, should both sides agree.
