Man Commits Suicide While Driving on Highway 101
Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in Southbound Lanes Near Winchester Canyon Road Exit
A Santa Barbara County resident in his late fifties shot and killed himself Monday morning as he drove southbound on Highway 101 near the Winchester Canyon Road exit in Goleta. His car crashed into the exit sign and ended up off the north side of the road. No one else was injured in the incident.
The identify of the man is being withheld, though his next of kin has been notified, said a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson. Authorities have declined to provide any additional information on the incident.
