Outside forces continue to make noise in the race between incumbent Rep. Lois Capps and former lt. gov. Abel Maldonado for the 24th Congressional District seat. The American Action Network, a center-right “action tank,”released a district-by-district breakdown of what it called cuts to Medicare fee-for-service and advantage reduction. The total reduction in the 24th District they say — based on the Census, the Congressional Budget Office, and a new University of Minnesota study — is at least $1.09 billion. Meanwhile, the National Republican Congressional Committee reported spending another $39,546 in opposing Capps, bringing their total to $178,000 this month.
