More than 70 alumni and alumnae came together a year ago and laid the foundation for the association. The One Year Later Alumni Summit will plan and build on the work from the first year.

“We accomplished so much in the first year — engaging our amazing alumni, participating in a wide variety of events, growing our regional groups, and establishing our identity. This next year holds so much promise as we continue to build on the excitement and commitment of our alums,” said Charles Caldwell, Executive Committee Co-Chair.

The weekend summit opens on October 19th with a celebration cocktail hour and dinner at the Contemporary Arts Forum. The evening will include a snapshot of the PGIAA’s first year with a salute to Steering Committee Co-Chairs Lupe Zuniga and Holly Reusing. On October 20th the association will hold an opening ceremony followed by an association evolving report. Next, work sessions will begin charting the shape of the association for the next year. A brunch on October 21st will wrap up the celebration event.

In its first year, the Pacifica Graduate Institute Alumni Association established a volunteer network, held regional alumni gatherings in more than 20 U.S. locations, developed an online community, welcomed graduates with new traditions, and laid the groundwork for mentorships, writers workshops, and alumni film festivals.

“I feel particularly honored to be a part of these early stages of our association. Knowing this was a much-needed aspect of the Pacifica experience and believing that it has enormous potential on so many levels motivated me to get involved. Together we have a special opportunity to carry forward what we started as Pacifica students,” Reusing said.

In the last 35 years, Pacifica Graduate Institute has graduated almost 3,000 alumni and alumnae. The Alumni Association provides programs and services that strengthen the connections between graduates and the institute.
