Featuring stunning High Definition animation, ‘The Improbable Journey of Berta Benz,’ tells the story of Bertha Benz, the first person to ever drive more than a mile.
This story was inspired by the children’s book “Berta Benz and the Motorwagen” and is based on the first-ever long distance road trip, which, in 1888 opened the road to our future, changed the automobile industry, and ultimately altered the course of human transportation. Berta Benz, wife of Karl Benz (Mercedes Benz) inventor of the Motorwagen, defies the rules to prove her husband’s invention was not folly, but worthwhile.
“I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of the film. Berta Benz is an incredible role model for women and the young of heart…Actually, she is an amazing role model for anyone who pushed the envelope beyond a dream” said the film’s writer/producer and founder of Gutsy Gals Inspire Me, Deborah Hutchison. “By telling her story, we hope to launch a movement that inspires girls and others to never give up their courage, confidence, and to always drive their own destinies.”
In a planned series directed by Keith English and executive-produced by Phyllis de Picciotto (Founder of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival), with original music by Mark Henderson, ‘The Improbable Journey of Berta Benz’ should delight and educate audiences around the world.
