As stewards of the earth, humans have the responsibility to care for the critters with which we share the planet. And it’s with this spirit that Valley Pets has been holding its Animal Festival for the past several years. The event offers a potpourri of services and products (on sale!) for beasties. For those currently critter-free, there will be several animal-rescue groups on site with adoptable pets — dogs, cats, rabbits, and even guinea pigs. For the canine set, there will be a self-serve dog wash and free manicures; Project Pet Safe will also be there offering licensing, vaccinations, and microchipping stations. The 3rd Annual Animal Festival takes place Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., 225 McMurray Road in Buellton. For more information, call (805) 693-0062 or visit valleypets.us.
