Santa Barbara Island is closed to public access due to damage from the recent storms to the pier landing ladder. The closure will be in place until a new ladder can be fabricated and installed. The closure is expected to last over a month.

Santa Barbara Island is the southernmost, smallest, and one of the least visited islands within Channel Islands National Park. It is located over 50 miles from Ventura and about 24 miles from neighboring Catalina Island.

There are no closures to public access on any of the four northern islands within Channel Islands National Park.

On Santa Cruz Island over six inches of rain fell at Scorpion Valley, causing a berm to form with extensive ponding of water in the valley. Consequently, the public restrooms near the Scorpion beach will be closed for repairs this week. Some island trails will be closed temporarily to prevent resource damage.
