The 5th stage of the 9th annual Amgen Tour of California professional cycling race will traverse the Santa Ynez Valley on its way from Pismo Beach to Santa Barbara on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

The public is welcome to watch free along the race route. Expect traffic delays due to rolling road closures by the California Highway Patrol.

One of the best places to watch in the Santa Ynez Valley is the corner of Foxen Canyon Road & Highway 154 in Los Olivos (where cyclists make a sharp left turn on their way to the ascent of San Marcos Pass). Bring a lawn chair or blanket, your own refreshments, sunscreen, hat and a camera. Five-ten minutes before the first cyclists arrive, official motorcycle patrols will appear. Stay well inside the barricades/roadway area and do not touch the riders as they go by. Obey local law enforcement and race course marshals. Leave pets at home; but bring cowbells to ring as the riders approach and pass. (A European and Solvang tradition!)
