Two wee ones have joined the S.B. Zoo family — a giraffe and giant anteater. Born November 13, the giraffe has been named Buttercup and is the third offspring for mamma Masai giraffe Audrey. “Because there are just over 100 Masai giraffes in captivity in North America, each birth and each giraffe is very important,” said Sheri Horiszny, the zoo’s director of animal programs, in a prepared statement. Over in the anteater enclosure, the new male pup (pictured below) came into the world November 6, making him the 27th giant anteater born at the zoo since 1975. The little guy, who hadn’t been named as of press time, is hanging out with his mom in private for some time before he makes his public appearance.
