California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded Wednesday mid-morning to reports of a possibly suicidal subject running from Highway 101’s Northbound to Southbound lanes south of the State Street exit, as stated in a CHP press release.

The 19-year-old Goleta resident, Quinton Williams-Muringani, suffered internal bleeding and head trauma when he subsequently jumped in front of a 2013 Ford E150 van driven by 55-year-old Ventura resident Roberta Muntzel, who suffered minor injuries.

County firefighters also responded to reports of the incident, but were unable to locate the man when they arrived, according to Fire Captain David Zaniboni. City firefighters took over, eventually locating Williams-Muringani at Highway 154 and Highway 101 Southbound near the State Street exit. American Medical Response (AMR) paramedics transported Williams-Muringani to Cottage Hospital, the CHP reported.
