Man Stabbed near Cliff Drive Apartments Sunday
Police Say Fight Caused by Alleged Stolen Property
A man was stabbed early Sunday morning near an apartment complex on the 800 block of Cliff Drive, across the street from City College. The fight escalated at a party out of an “argument over possible stolen property,” said Santa Barbara Police Lt. Brent Mandrell. Police responded at 4:22 a.m. Sunday to the scene, where they discovered a victim bleeding from a stab wound to his back inflicted by an unknown object.
“The victim didn’t even realize he was stabbed at the time [of the fight],” Mandrell told The Santa Barbara Independent. He underwent surgery at Cottage Hospital the night of the altercation. Police detectives are investigating the stabbing, which appears to have involved a couple suspects.
