The Goleta Water District’s Board of Directors grilled Eric Ford, the district’s interim general manager, on 8/24 in response to a billing problem that resulted in some customers receiving collection notices for unpaid bills before standard notice was given. Ford claimed he adjusted the district’s accounts-it owed some customers a combined total of $50,000 and was due $30,000 from others-saying that with many rapid-turnover renters paying water bills, it can be easy to lose track of a few.
