Second Isla Vista Cliff Fall in Two Days?

A little more than 24 hours after a man tumbled from a balcony above the Isla Vista cliffs along Del Playa Drive, a second college-age victim was discovered with serious head injuries on the beach below the cliffs.

A group walking along the beach found the unconscious man 100 yards east of the staircase at El Embarcadero Road just after midnight on Saturday morning. No one saw the fall, authorities said, but the victim’s injuries were consistent with such an incident. The man’s name and condition have not been released, and additional details were not immediately available.

Between 8:45 p.m. Friday night and 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning, County Fire teams responded to 28 calls in Isla Vista, said department spokesperson Mike Eliason. Most of the calls were alcohol-related, he said.
