Westland Peated Whiskey

Westland Peated American Single Malt Whiskey: For those who relish the rich, smoky flavor peat brings to whiskey, the magic spot is Islay in Scotland, home to the likes of Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg.
Islay’s got some competition now, though, from the U.S. of A., specifically Westland in Seattle. While they make a variety of high-end whiskey, the Peated is most striking for its depth of smoke that still is well balanced by grain fruitiness and oak aging in both bourbon and sherry barrels.
Add it up, and this is as complex a postprandial treat as one could indulge in: that smoke, but also oak, a nutty mid-palate coated in a toss of pepper, and a long warming finish. A cigar whiskey, if people are bad; perfect alongside the last aromatic embers of a barbecue for those nobler.
