Where to Go to Soak Up the Booze, and Get Some More

In that dining dead-zone that exists after your pre-concert
dinner has worn off and martini-induced munchies have set in…this
is the domain of fried cheese.

Of course, you would never be seen eat it normally. But at
around 10:30 p.m., when your stomach cries out for something to
absorb some of the alcohol (and your friends cry out for more
martinis!), shining like a beacon of ambiance lighting is Bricks
Café, the relatively new late night eatery on lower State Street
that serves cheap eats and drinks every evening. And these days,
Bricks is also hosting comedy nights on Thursdays, live jazz on
Wednesday nights, and football games galore on Sundays, with drink
specials.

So next time you’re out on the town and need some grub with
something to wash it down, do what I do: Walk in with $20, enjoy
these fried cheese sticks and another martini, and you’ll still
have enough cash for a cab ride home. What could be better?

The Details: Bricks Cafe is located at 509 State Street. To stay
