The Santa Ynez Chumash submitted a letter to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors on 9/4, objecting to the selection by 3rd District Supervisor Brooks Firestone of Charles “CJ” Jackson as the next planning commissioner to represent the district. Jackson, a Santa Ynez resident, has been an opponent of the tribe for a decade, according to Chumash spokesperson Frances Snyder, and the tribe feels he is biased and won’t be objective toward them.
