On 9/4, Santa Barbara sheriff’s deputies, CAMP (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting), and the U.S. Forest Service eradicated a marijuana field in the national forest near Figueroa Mountain. This crop was one of several discovered by pilots flying missions for the Zaca Fire. Approximately 20 law enforcement personnel participated in the operation, with a total of 12,480 plants seized. The value of plants seized this year in Santa Barbara County is estimated to exceed $306 million.
