Firestone Will Not Seek Another Term

Santa Barbara County 3rd District Supervisor Brooks Firestone announced on 9/7 that he will not seek a second term. A moderate Republican of considerable personal wealth, Firestone would have been hard to beat had he chosen to run. He currently represents the county’s swing districtencompassing the Santa Ynez Valley, Isla Vista, and parts of Goletaso the various factions there are scrambling to field candidates. Firestone explained that at age 71, he was not looking forward to a nine-month campaign next year, nor the prospect of serving another four-year term. “The enthusiasm was just not there,” he said.
