An encore presentation of the one-hour PBS documentary California at War is showing tonight, Thursday, September 20, at 8 p.m. on KCET. The doc is about how World War II turned California from a rural, backward state into the economic and cultural powerhouse that it is today. Special for Santa Barbarans is the discussion of the Japanese attack on the Ellwood oil fields. It’s a great slice of forgotten history, so tune in tonight.
