Griffin Saxon

Griffin Saxon
Paul Wellman

FRESH TALENT: When he’s not calling galleries to make sure their holiday listings are accurate, dropping files onto the Web site, and otherwise earning the gratitude of The Indy staff, intern Griffin Saxon spends his time courting one or another of his creative muses. The 13-year-old has been making movies steadily since he received a camcorder at the age of 10. He and a partner have created light-hearted spoofs of such favorite films as Star Wars, and Griffin recently finished shooting Stranded. Shot entirely in his backyard, the film centers on a group of game show competitors who get lost in the woods. Griffin also acts: He was cast as Cinderella’s prince in Janet Adderley’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, though he’d like to point out that in real life he does not resemble that character, who cheated on Cinderella. This year at the Lobero, you can catch Griffin playing the part of Motel the tailor in Fiddler on the Roof. “I do comedy,” said Griffin. On the serious side, Griffin also plays jazz and blues guitar, and attends classes at Santa Barbara Middle School.
