Rain was blamed for an electrical explosion in the 6700 block of Cortona Drive in Goleta around 9 a.m. on 12/19. According to reports, exposure to rainwater caused underground electrical equipment-owned by Southern California Edison-to malfunction, resulting in an audible boom and smoke pouring forth from a manhole cover. Though no one was hurt, area businesses lost power for a few hours.
