A 70-year-old sailor was rescued from Santa Cruz Island on 12/21. According to reports, the man apparently lost power on his 50-foot yacht, which then ran aground on the island. He then drifted alone until being spotted by the Coast Guard at about 3 a.m. The man was treated for mild hypothermia. His yacht was destroyed as a result of the accident.
