The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) is seeking public comment on a proposal to add the California tiger salamander to California’s endangered species list. Public feedback will be included in the DFG’s status evaluation report to be presented to the Fish and Game Commission during a February 2010 meeting. Currently, all the California tiger salamander populations are listed under the Federal Endangered Species Act.

The Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District on 5/18 canceled the Jesusita Fire-spawned air quality watch for South County. Following containment of the fire, air quality has improved overall and is expected to continue doing so. The agencies still caution residents to be careful when cleaning up burned building materials.
