The Dish: Along windy Cabrillo Boulevard, the Santa Barbara FisHouse serves lunch and dinner at the waterfront across from Stearns Wharf. Patio seating is the first to fill up on bustling summer evenings, but a spacious interior contains the flood from the outside when coveted patio fireside tables are taken. Prawn-ton wontons are rolled and wrapped with a sweet Thai chili sauce to start. Steamed, seared, and shucked specialty small plates follow traditional standards for seafood starters played up with fresh herbs or spicy wasabi sauces. Grilled wild salmon, steaming cioppino, and a creamy vodka-rich penne are satisfying mains as well as rib eyes and sweet barbeque-basted pork baby backs from the land. The freshest seafood combines with resonant layered flavors and texture preparations to produce a menu full of comfort-filling dishes in a stunning Santa Barbara-specific setting.
