Due to guitarist Lee Ranaldo‘s recent wrist injury, Sonic Youth has officially cancelled their September 26 tour stop in Santa Barbara. Nederlander Concerts and Matador Records confirmed the cancellation today, announcing that the majority of the band’s Southwest tour dates will be postponed until early 2010. Sonic Youth’s S.B. stop at the Arlington Theatre and October 4 stop at the Austin City Limits festival are the only two stops not being rescheduled. Refunds can be obtained at ticket holders’ point of purchase.
Ranaldo, who’s been with Sonic Youth since the band formed in the early 1980s, is also an avid writer, producer, and visual artist. The guitarist fractured his left wrist during a recent game of tennis and is expected to recover by January.
