15-Year-Old Nonprofit Needs Support to Keep Feeding Those in Need
As we move into epicure.sb (epicuresb.com) month, it’s probably a good time to think about those for whom simply having a meal is an epicurean delight. And despite talk of the economy finally being on the rebound, many in our own community need help.
One such organization to do so for more than 15 years is Food from the Heart (898-3981, foodfromtheheart.com), but now the group needs our help, as demand has increased while donations have lagged. Food from the Heart even connects to health-care reform issues, as the organization assists people in crisis because of illness or if they’re under the care of Hospice. Just examining the Web site reveals the volunteers take this job very seriously, as the photos of the food they deliver look like something only the best of caterers might cook up, from salmon corn chowder to strawberry bread pudding. Help them with a donation so they can continue to help people who write things such as: “I so look forward to my Wednesday delivery of wonderful food. It’s like Christmas with a bag from Julia Child. It’s a gourmet treat! You not only feed me but teach me to cook healthy food combinations, creative dishes, and foods that I used to dislike, I now love.”
