The trial of Los Angeles residents Claudia Cabrera and her husband, Josue Luna, is underway in Los Angeles for the hit-and-run death of 18-year-old Adrianna Bachan earlier this year. Bachan, a Santa Barbara native, was struck and killed on 3/29 by a vehicle allegedly driven by Cabrera, who authorities say ran a red light at an intersection near the USC campus where Bachan was attending school. Authorities allege that after the vehicle struck Bachan, Luna got out of the car and pushed a second person off the hood and onto the ground, and the vehicle drove off.

Despite claims by Kim Klein, ex-wife of Michael Klein, that his reckless disregard caused the death of the couple’s teenage daughter in a plane crash in Panama that also killed Michael Klein and the pilot, a Santa Barbara jury decided on 9/9 that he was in fact not negligent in her death. At the time, Klein, who had earned hundreds of millions of dollars from selling various high-tech companies he created, was the CEO of Santa Barbara-based Pacificor LLC, and was on vacation with his daughter and her friend, who survived the crash last December. His former wife had sued his estate.
