Svante Nilson

ARTIST IN DA HOUSE: Since 2007, Svante Nilson has been designing adverts at The Independent, but this week, his work can also be found on the paper’s cover and throughout the book, since he created this year’s Best Of logo. A native Santa Barbaran, Nilson interned here with the news department in 2005. After that, he was a teacher’s aide at his alma mater, San Marcos High, while taking continuing education courses to learn computer graphics-which helped him land the design job. Although he graduated from university with a history degree, Nilson believes that “design is a good place for me.” We’d have to agree.
