A candlelight vigil is to be held on 12/11-in the middle of the two-week UN climate talks in Copenhagen-as part of the 350.org association’s effort to shed light on the pressing need to lower the global carbon level from 380 ppm to a survivable 350 ppm. The vigil is set to begin at 6 p.m. on the front steps of the Museum of Art and will proceed around the block. Organizers encourage participants to dress warmly and to bring their own candles.

The California Sea Grant College Program announced this week that it is now accepting applications for the 2011 Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships, which offers real-world educational experience to students interested in marine resources and relevant national policies. The nationally funded program, which matches qualified graduate students with hosts in the legislative and executive branches or other associations and institutions, is located in the Washington, D.C., area and entails a one-year paid fellowship with a $35,000 stipend.
