Medical marijuana dispensaries will not be allowed in the County of Santa Barbara, at least for the coming year, the Board of Supervisors decided on 2/23. This leaves the City of Santa Barbara as the only jurisdiction in the county to allow the cannabis clinics. The supervisors had adopted a 45-day emergency ordinance in early January, and voted unanimously this week to extend the ordinance for a full year.

On 2/26 from 8-9 a.m., UCSB’s very own radio station, KCSB 91.9 FM, will begin weekly airings of the documentary Don’t Bank on Amerika: The History of the Isla Vista Riots of 1970. Having originally premiered on the station in the mid 1980s, the airing this week marks the 40th anniversary of the torching of Isla Vista’s branch of Bank of America in protest of the Vietnam War. A recent conversation with Malcolm Gault-Williams, who wrote and produced the original doc, will be featured after the broadcast.
