Commissioner Deborah Talmage was honored by Santa Barbara County on 4/6 for her 27 years of service. She worked as a deputy district attorney for four years before three years of private practice. After that, she became the first woman appointed to the bench in county history in 1983, and has since been a commissioner in the courts. Since 2003 she has presided over the Collaborative Justice Court, working with attorneys and defendants to get proper treatment to those with addictons and mental illnesses.
